Danish Museum Resist Return Disputed Artifacts
ROME - The Italian oversight has successfully negotiated with our American museums and private collectors to return to what it says are looted antiquities. However, you will find the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, an art museum in Copenhagen, more ticklish to break.
Conversations with the Glyptotek has dragged for months, although “the budgets for the negotiations are identical to those carried out with the Americans,” said Maurizio Fiorilli, the Italian advocate of the state involved in the negotiations. Glyptotek, however , has “taken a very different,” he said.
At the heart of the rumpus Greco-Roman and Etruscan objects Glyptotek acquired by Robert Hecht, an antiquities dealer from now on trial in Rome, where he is accused of receiving and selling stolen oddity and conspiracy in the trade in antiquities. He denies any wrongdoing.
