A bridge that cannot satisfy Mayawati's whims? Sify
30.03.10
The repeated demolition and reconstruction of a railing along a pass over on river Gomti here leading to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's dream project - the Rs.1,200 crore Ambedkar Garden cum memorial - has raised many eyebrows with officials putting it down to her 'personal whims'.
The bridge was initiated by Mayawati during her newer stint in power in 1997 and was thrown open to public in 2000 during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) r, when it was christened as 'Gandhi Setu'.
When Mayawati assumed the chief minister's office for the fourth time in 2007, it was bewitched up for major renovation on account of which it was shut for almost a year. Crores of rupees were spent on the renovation which involved demolition and reconstruction of a new railing along either side of the 500 metre term of the bridge.
To give it a grand look, Mayawati also got the entry arch at the threshold of the bridge pulled down to replace it with a monster sized gate costing Rs.10 crore that was nearly double the cost of the bridge. The 'Gandhi Setu' directorship was discreetly removed and in its place a huge signage was put up describing the opulent new structure as an entry gate to the Ambedkar Plaque complex.

30.03.10
Idaho lawmakers wrapped up a 78-day legislative period Monday that was marked by deep,
unprecedented spending cuts – including big cuts to schools – and unharmonious railing against the federal government. “I think that people are afraid of what they’re seeing from the federal management,” said Senate President Pro-Tem Bob Geddes, R-Soda Springs. “People expect us to wagon up for Idaho’s rights.” Even into the session’s final hours, which went well into the evening Monday, lawmakers were debating measures designed to send messages to the federal guidance that Idaho wants more sovereignty, whether it’s about health care reform or guns. They even endorsed two measures job for amending the U.S. Constitution, both backed by GOP Gov. Butch Otter/ Betsy Russell , Eye On Boise. More here .
Question: Opinionator Kevin Richert of the Idaho Statesman tweets that Gov. Butch Otter trace the 2010 Legislature was a “great session .” Would you agree?

How should I paint an old indoor wrought iron railing?
Jun 05, 2007 by debbiemart88 | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I neediness help, paint can make this railing look brand new. The railing is old and we have redone almost every aspect of this house but the railing has stayed so what can i do to make it look discriminating? The railing starts downstairs and extends upstairs along the hallway. I painted the upstairs portion in the hallway already and I was planning to carry out. I painted it with oil based paint, was that a mistake?? It's nice but I was wondering if there is something better I could do, I want to do some kidney of painting technique, my friend has one in her home that is painted the iron color (dark grey) but it has like silverware weathered accent on it. I don't know if you can picture what i'm describing but please any suggestions, photos, etc would help. Can I prime over the part I painted with the oil based portray if I decide to do something different??
You've done amend by using the oil paint, you might want to try a rustoleum product called "Hammerite" it will give it a real tidy look to it, check it out and you won't have to re prime and sand all these other make more work for yourself ideas, as long as there is no rust or flaking of old step out your fine if there is a wire brush will do the trick, good luck Les the painter

I don't grasp where you are or if you have it in your stores but I used Tremclad paint (oil based) for mine. If there is no chipped paint right now, this paint doesn't lack you to sand or prime it. I believe this brand of paint has that color you are talking about too.
And remember to paint it with a sponge con to have a nice streek-free final result.
Have fun!!!

There are a miscellany of paints available which will give you the antique look that your friend has, why not ask them what they used or consult with your paint store, even Home Depot or Sears can give you some ideas.
You can go fair over the top of the oil based paint without priming, provided you continue to use an oil based product, not latex.
If it is too glossy, a very light sanding or sword wooling will give the new paint better adherence. Actually, oil paints are probably best.

Where can I find in Michigan good railing for my front porch?
May 26, 2007 by joe b | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I currently have the gauge (black painted) iron railing. Two of my neighbors have more up-to-date rails, but they had them custom made. I want to be able to just buy it from a stock and have them easily installed.
Institution Depot, Menards and Lowe's have a decent collection. If you're in the Detroit area, there are some really aloof places on Warren Rd and Schaffer Rd in east Dearborn that have very cool custom Arabic designs.

Outdoor railing that is only 9 months old has rusting in a few areas. Want to protect it.?
Apr 23, 2008 by sdsherman | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Would it be wise to just sand the rusted spot and then spot prime the rusted area? I plan on using Bin 1-2-3 for primer. Then I would use Rust-Oleum Shielding Enamal flat black on the whole railing.
Would be think twice idea to prime whole thing, then paint.
