The 70's cards are more valuable than the ones in the 80's because the cards in the 80's were massively overproduced but they still convey value especially if they are rookies of star players like Cal Ripken Jr. or Roger Clemens.
G to eBay and look around. See what other folks' nearly the same collections are selling for -- and not selling for. That'll give you an idea as to whether it's worth selling, even if you plan to carry it somewhere else.

My brothers have a TON of baseball and football cards there alot of old ones from 1925-1980 passed from my grandfather but gave to my brothers how do i identify how much they are?
i wish i could get at least one card but they dont let me!maybe a few more years

Obviously I know I could look it up on Beckett. Looking for a short cut. Lou Brook couldn't effect Rickey's cleats.
According to PSA's SMR Online, a 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson lists for $45 in Neighbourhood of Mint-Mint condition, $185 in Mint condition, and $6,500 in Gem Mint condition.
