Are Beckett Card Shows a good place to sell baseball cards?
I have a huge issue hood baseball card collection and there is a Beckett Card Show coming near my area soon. I was wondering will I be able to make a lot of flush from selling them their? Will they rip me off because I don't know who to believe how much they are worth? I have several books filled with cards and a couple of card boxes full of them. They are cards from mid 80s to mid 90s and some of them are lyrical good. I know baseball cards are in less demand now days, but should I keep them for memories or can I make a lot of money off of them with Beckett?
Ebay actually is where almost all baseball cards are sold nowadays. It is very convenent to have but it has really killed the value of baseball cards, becasue now so many cards are readilly avilable anywhere, you dont have to junket somewhere to get it anymore. But hey its a sign of the times!
I have over 5000 baseball cards, where is a good place to sell them all other than ebay?
I have no ides if any of these cards are valuable, I bought them all at flea markets. I am hoping some have a trivial value to them, but I want to dump them all as a huge lot and sell the bad with the good. Where can I get a fair price without incurring ebay fees
Before selling them try to find out about what they are significance. Check out ebay just to get an estimate on the current selling price, the current Beckett will also be a valuable means. One thing to keep in mind, most baseball cards printed after 1975 are fairly common and selling is tough unless you find someone to buy lots at once at flea markets, yard sells, and ebay. Sizeable Luck
I have a huge collection of sports card, Whats the best way to sell the whole lot?
Anyone out there interested or be acquainted with someone, let me know. There are cards and collectible figures for all sports, baseball, basketball, football, and hockey.
From private experience, I wouldn't go with Ebay unless you feel like dedicating a whole lot of time to it. I would try looking for your regional card shop and try selling to them, or find someone that will sell them for you.
How to grade baseball & football cards?
I have a huge box of football and baseball cards. I looked on Ebay and noticed that they are quality more if I get them graded. I have like Brett Farve, Emmitt Smith and a bunch other rookie cards.
Where do I go to get these graded? They are hundreds of dollars distinction between the graded and non and my cards are in pristine condition.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Another quick question: Is there a place I can physically take the cards to or do I have to post them in? I live in Los Angeles so if anyone knows of a place, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for all the great answers!!
There are two big players in the grading determination: Beckett and Professional Sports Authenticators (PSA). There are other grading services, but they aren't as reputable and therefore the value of their graded cards on the spare market is often less than those graded by the "big two" companies.
The basic system is: you bring your card to an authorized dealer (or send it in the mail to the grading business), your card is graded on a scale of 1-10 and sealed in a special holder so that it cannot be tampered with after grading takes place. The card gets returned to you, and voila. The set someone back is usually a few bucks per card - check their websites for exact costs.
Please be aware that these companies have a pretty stringent grading system. There are many manifold elements that make up a grade, such as centering, printing quality, corner quality, etc. There's a reason why the 10-rated cards are benefit so much more than other lower and non-graded cards: a 10 rating is hard to come by. You mentioned that your cards are in "chaste condition", but I'd be willing to bet that few would achieve a "10" rating by PSA or Beckett.
I'd persuade visiting their websites, pick your favorite service among those two, and try a few cards out. See how you like the whole experience!
Have fun.
