Kornheiser vs. Armstrong can't compare to classic literary feuds Washington Post

It makes you pine for the simpler, saner days when Leo Tolstoy challenged Ivan Turgenev to a duel.

Here is a short catalog of recent media squabbles:

Keith Olbermann vs. Bill Simmons: What happens when the 800-pound anchor hideousness bumps into the 800-gigabyte Web monster? Ka-BOOM! There was massive ego fallout over three continents and the Canary Islands. The new-age spit box was provoked by Simmons's ill-conceived live-chat notion that Tiger Woods's comeback would be more difficult than Muhammad Ali's comeback.

The MSNBC hotelman blogged, "I am again left to marvel how somebody can rise to a fairly prominent media position with no recognizable insight or talent." The ESPN.icon responded by tweeting that Olbermann is "a pious, unlikable blowhard." Then it got unprepossessing, and, well, I felt so uncomfortable, I left the cyber room.

Charles P. Pierce vs. Bill Simmons: Actually, this one was the undercard to Olbermann-Simmons, also

3 youngsters left in running for Reds' last spot USA Today

Now, the odds are in their favor.

Wood, exact-hander Mike Leake and left-hander Aroldis Chapman appear to be the last ones standing in the event for the fifth starter's spot with one week left. The final decision likely will come down to one more head-to-font audition next week and front-office rumination about which one fits best at the moment.

Chapman is the most intriguing choice. The 22-year-old defected from Cuba and signed with the Reds, who splurged on a six-year, $30.25 million contract for a pitcher who throws 100 mph. The question is whether he's ready to throw that triple-digit pitch past big join forces hitters.

He was impressive early in camp, but left a game last Monday because of back spasms. Chapman is tentatively scheduled to select on Sunday against the Dodgers.

Chapman was in good humor on Saturday morning. Walking down the hallway that connects the Reds' clubhouse and the trainer's margin, he passed a reporter, touched his arm lightly, smiled and said, "Hello!" -- a reminder that he's making go in learning the language.

How do I found out what my old baseball cards are worth?

My sister found a categorize of old baseball cards that her no-good fiance left at her house. She has a huge binder full and knows nothing about baseball. How would she go about finding their value without looking them up one by one on ebay? What shouldn't she do?

Where can I get an honest opnion on how much old baseball cards / comics are worth?

I have a knot of old baseball cards and comic books from 10 - 12 years ago. (the baseball cards were old even when I got it 10 - 12 years ago. For example a Rookie baseball card of Nick Mcguire when he was on Oakland A's, etc)
Where can I go to get an honest opinion on how much they are worth?

You can go to beckett.com for $5.99 you can get prices. There are also services that you can send in your cards or comics to have them professionally graded and certified. I would only do this choice on your best cards that you know have some worth behind them cause it does cost a good bit to have the service done. I personally would start at beckett find your excellent ones and then if you have some really great cards then look into a professional grading of them. Hope that helps.

Where can I get some old baseball cards appraised?

I have some in point of fact old baseball and basketball trading cards. Where can i get them appraised and sold somewhere in the Memphis,Tn area if possible?

Adamant one, I guess it all depends on the age of the card. If by "really old", you mean cards from the 50s,60s, 70s, and early to mid 80s. You might have some good offering there and you should definitely pick up a price guide (or go to Beckett.com) and price out each card. If you are talking about anything post 1988, most of it isn't merit too much. Still I would go and do the pricing myself. Dealers tend to offer you 25% - 50% of the item's true value. Get an idea of what it's benefit through price guides and then use your best judgment as far as what you think it's really worth by visiting sites like Naxcom.com and ebay.com.
