How do baseball card pricing magazines work?

I compile baseball cards and i have a good lot but I want to know what they r worth. But how? What magazines are out there that are good for pricing for baseball cards. But how do i look in the mag for the cards i have? I just dont get it, i havnt looked at a index card pricing mag be4 so. Like i dont get how it would have the EXACT and every single cards i own and the price. Any explanations baseball card collecters? thanks

hey i concentrate sports card too. try beckett, or tuff stuff.
-look at the back of your car.
-at the bottom look for the year and the general manufacturer (topps, bowman, majuscule letters deck)
- narrow it down by looking at the card type (like bowman gold edition) this should be somewhere around the front.
-look at the top corner on the back and there will be a many, this will lead you to your exact player

Beckett is a belongings magazine is basically a cartel run by card stores..so their prices are always on the high side. A rule of thumb if you are selling is one half-Beckett.

The cards are listed by year and then by set in the armoury. They will only list prices for the star cards individually, and for 'commons' they will just give a price. At the top of each listing they will also inventory the price for complete sets.

Also, each year Beckett publishes a larger book that will list every card. For anything more than a few years old, the prices will be immutable enough to be quite accurate.

I only buy Beckett because I invent Tuff Stuff over values cards. Just check the brand of card & the year & look down cards listed in armoury & look for your particular card # but it will only list the stars, most rookies & (SP) short printed cards. Good accident

Where can I get reliable pricing on my old baseball cards?

I recently found what is red of my small baseball card collection. Three of these cards may be of some value. I have a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card as well as Tom Glavine and John Smoltz in their rookie seasons.

Though pricing guides have their improper, if you check ebay for auctions that have ended you can tell what people are actually PAYING for the cards.

Beckett shows the 1989 #1 Griffey window-card as $40 - I think I actually paid $20... I would use pricing guides for insurance reasons or a starting point to be aware the value of the cards. The actual value is often half or less of the listed price.

Good Luck!

Anyone know a site that gives pricing for baseball cards, also a site to sell them on?

Beckett's area looks like it will work the best for you, although it
does come with a monthly charge. It's hard to find the literal charge
on the site, but it looks like approximately 3-4 dollars a month. To
get started, log into:

And governor over to the 'my beckett' section. Register a username and
password, and then proceed to the 'my collection' segment. It will
allow you to register 5,000 cards per collection (I believe you can
list multiple collections) and it will list pricing from the latest
Beckett toll guide as the values change.

Thepit.com is the online, stock market-like marketplace with realtime
pricing based on the merchandise's demand. It is free of charge, although
there are fees for trading cards through the site. You can find the
pit at:

The site says they're a subsidiary of Topps, but all brands of cards
are traded on the area. It functions just like a stock market with
clever ticker symbol names for cards, and value unyielding in realtime
according to supply, demand, and the listed value price.

I logged into the site, registered my name, and found that the
'portfolio' divide up requires you to participate in the trading. There
is, however, a 'watch' list that will allow you enter in as many cards
as you'd like with no charge to trade. You can follow their value
in real-time.

To find the watch list, click on the 'my account' button (after you
reveal, of course), then click 'watch list' to register your cards.
The pricing on the watch list will be updated in realtime when the
exchange is active.

Try also looking at www.RealLegends.com is
exactly what you're looking for. It keeps track of most every regular
issue and introduce ever produced with prices from the latest closed eBay
auction.

Another site you might look into is eTopps. eTopps (www.eTopps.com)
is the greatest internet-age card portfolio. Of course, it only works
with the eTopps cards but they are quickly attracting a following
because of the novel IPO concept and the guide with which you can
liquidate your shares (er, cards) directly on eBay without any
shipping involved. Many collectors have had great success "investing"
in eTopps cards. This could be the approaching of sports card collecting.
It will be interesting to watch as it unfolds.

Some of these site have a place to sell, but it may be more benificial to rat on on Ebay.

Good Luck!

Does anyone know where I can find a free online pricing guide for baseball cards?
