I have a large area (2000 sq.ft) open beam ceiling where the beams are painted dark olive green.?

I have painted the beams in the coffee break of the house to match the ceiling (soft white) This area is huge, and open. The beams were painted 35 years ago when this was the style. Should I depict this area beams to match. A plus is the beams will not stand out so much, as they were intended to be a focal point years ago-has that style come back?
I don't regard as that this style has "come back", so much as that it has never really left. I think that exposed beams have always been kind of majestic and unequalled and that you should definitely allow them to continue as a focal point.
I don'tknow if olive green is your color though... depending on the colors in the intermission of that space, you might try more of a neutral brown. OR you can go the opposite direction and paint them some sort of brilliant and noticeable color that accents/constrasts the other things in that lodge.

It's your for nothing do what you want with it. People worry to much about what others might think of something. Who pays the rent/mortgage YOU DO who lives there YOU DO so who cares if 'you're not in the latest tend' if when friends come over tell you anything about the beams or the roof you could always say 'you want to be different or that you want to keep the house as fresh as opssible'. You should fritz around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color kith and kin & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. My advice - apply the walls a warm orange, like "marigold," and then paint the ceiling "navajo pallid" and the beams "cobble brown." It will look so fantastic.

okay, we are prevalent to redo our basement and we want the walls to be a bright red and the beams across the ceiling to be a black, but the ceiling is 8.5 feet tall, how could we be careful not to get stain splattered on the floor, and how could we make sure we don't get black paint from the beams onto the other parts of the ceiling?
You grade a drop cloth on the floor (sold at Wal-mart or any paint store) and use painters tape (it is usually obscene and sold at Wal-mart or any paint store) to tape off the area so you don't get black paint on the other parts of the ceiling.

What Color to Repaint my Ceiling Beams?

We have a as a gift (built in 1918) that has large ceiling beams in both the living and dining room. This wood trim goes along the edge of the divider and then across the ceiling (in a grid in the dinning room). Unfortunately the previous owners painted them a dark brown (to look like a dull stain I imagine) but it is bad. All the wood work is a dark mahogany like stain and although there are many windows, it is very dark. We are repainting everything!
Where can I find pictures of distinctive color combinations for ceilings with painted beams? I really need help visualizing how it will look in a few different ways to come to a decision.

Most of the beams on HGTV are a wood finish. I did find a couple that had them painted, tho.
it doesn't say what color they painted the trim, tho the wall color is "navajo anaemic" and it looks like the beams are a gray/beige.

As an aside, to preserve the historic honour of the house, I would not paint over any wood that still has the original wood grain - just use a lighter wall color to perk up it up. But for the trim that has already been painted, then you'll mos def just wanna repaint b/c trying to strip it & restore the wood is a pain in the neck.
