where can I find spot lights in faux beams?
Google.com
Theatrical supply houses sell shields the top a spot or flood "Gobi" maybe,,,I've been out of theater too long apparently, sigh.
In theater they sire, along with "Gels" the effect, and patterns for many things.
The issue is however, that it may not be possible to have such an item that fits into yardstick home track lighting for example,,BUT you might be able to modify, or copy the idea of what you want to achieve onto some significant that will tolerate the heat from the light source and deliver the desired effect.
Rev. Steven
The first consideration is heat. Regular 110v recessed (or other) incandescant spot lights create a lot of heat. Because it sounds like you intend to conceal them in false ceiling beams, heat buildup is a serious issue. For that act, I suggest that you use "low voltage" spotlights. They are generally much smaller than the regular 110v recessed "can" lights and put out very dwarf heat.
Low-voltage spot or task lighting is available from several manufacturers. There are many styles and types of fixtures as well as many options close by in the way of "lenses" to either concentrate or diffuse the light.
Best advice I can give is to visit your local lighting center and ask for their counsel. They will consider your needs and recommend the appropriate fixtires and accessories. Follow their advice and you won't be disappointed.
Palatable luck with your project.
How do I repair hardwood floors that are molding through the structural supports causing broken beams, 4-plex?
I exist in a single story 4-plex that is very old. Hardwood throughout all four units. Mine is the only one that seems to be rotting away. The beams under the floor are now breaking. I went under the structure (through a daylite half-basement) and the floor is covered with insulation everywhere except under my unit. One of the tenants keeps huge loads of most recent, very green, wood down there. I don't know what to do. I see mold growing between the floorboards. The spaces get big one day in one spot then the next day are nearly gone there and vast spaces are visable somewhere else. I know it's bad, I would like to know if I can fix it and at what point do I need to be concerned for my health with the amount of mold I call to mind a consider is under foot? I don't smell mold, othere than once in a great while. Mildew doesn't seem to be an odor I have noticed either. Am I asking the just questions?
I am in the south puget sound area in Washington state. The building is a single story, chum 4-plex. I appreciate your help!
You in all probability have termites.. Those house is going to have to be put on temp jacks and those beams replaced.. Mildew is a problem but when the house caves won't that result your health as well? Where are you located?
If the path-length difference between two identical and coherent beams is two wavelengths when they arrive on?
If the means-length difference between two identical and coherent beams is two wavelengths when they arrive on a screen, will they produce a dark or a bright spot?
Hi. That would depend utterly on whether they were in phase, out of phase, or someplace in the middle. Since there has been a shift of exactly 2 wavelengths they should produce a bright spot.
I bought a house made in 1948 with wood floors. There is a mushy spot under some vinyl flooring. How to fix?
I bought a forebears made in 1948 with wood floors. There is a mushy spot under some vinyl flooring that is right in fron of where the fridge is. I suspect there was some irrigate damage from the earlier fridge before I bought the place. It's a pier and beam foundation, so I can get into the crawl gap below. I looked around a little when installing the water for the ice maker in my new fridge. I did not see any water damage from below. How do I detect what the problem is and how should I go about fixing it?
You may be superior to find the mushy spot by going underneath and having someone above helping you. Once you find it, it may be able to be fixed by reinforcing the floor with a piece of plywood and some deck screws. If the squidgy spot is on the truss itself, that poses a new problem that cant be fixed from below. In this case, you will have to fix it from above. If you have vinyl tiles, it shouldn't be much of a problem. If you have membrane vinyl it will be a little more difficult. The biggest problem may be finding the tile or sheet vinyl that you will need to succeed in the damaged spot. Some places where you can find exact tile are: In your basement, they may have thrown the scrap down there. Under your cabinets, alot of times if the vinyl is put down before the cabinets, there is quarrel under there thats not attached. You may be able to find the tile or vinyl if you go to your local home center or flooring store. Your superior bet, and probably will save you both time and money is to find a flooring installer to check it out for you.
