I am remodeling a very old undertaking, it has and had some tin ceiling tiles in it, I would like to keep the look, the new tin tiles don't go well with old and the new tin tiles are too expensive to replace the whole ceiling.
I have seen mad paper that you can apply to the ceiling at Home Depot , if you like can leave it white or paint it using either a copper or tin tincture paint .

How do you remove paint from tin ceiling tiles?
Apr 01, 2008 by Michigan T | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
Arrogate! I need ideas for removing paint from antique tin ceiling tiles. We are renovating a 1920's cottage, and have taken the tiles down to rip off the paint.
The first layer seems to be a latex paint and the second layer is lead-based. We want to rob them down, prime and repaint them a copper color.
Well, the subdue and least expensive and least time costly way to do it is as follows:
Use oven cleaner. Apply a thin layer of the oven cleaner to the tin tiles and use a petty putty knife to remove peeling and loosened pieces. Apply a second layer of the oven cleaner using a ceremonious bristled brush to get the oven cleaner into the cracks and crevices. Apply as many layers as you need. You'll be proficient to just wipe away the residu with a damp rag. However, you should wait about (but no more!) than 2 hours for the oven cleaner to work appropriately. Don't wait longer so it doesn't damage your tin tiles.
Protect the surface of the floor with a large layer of plastic, since oven cleaner can harm your floors. It's also important to protect your eyes with protective goggles and your hands with rubber gloves.
Also, though it isn't part of your entertain, when you prime your tin tiles, make sure you use an oil-based primer to avoid having your tiles rust from water-based primer. You can then limn latex paint on top of the oil-based primer without a problem.
This is how I did my tin tiles and those of 3 clients.
Enjoy your new tin tiles... ;-)

How can I cut tin ceiling tiles and create a frame out of them?
Aug 06, 2006 by What the fu-- | Posted in Other - Visual Arts
It's an anniversary distribute. Huge 2' by 2' tiles. What should I use to cut them and any suggestions on how to create a glass center to insert pictures.
Tin snips.. you can find those at Lowe's -Familiar with Depot and measure what size you want the glass to be and call your local glass place. They cut to size. Don't overlook a good pair of leather gloves from one of the warehouse stores. The tin is sharp and can leave a good gash.

Unexpensive Faux Tin Ceiling tiles?
Dec 27, 2007 by Nadia | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I'm looking to make room my family room with Copper look ceiling tiles (who can afford real copper anyways?!). Any ideas what other goods can we try ?
Hi there,
By a hair's breadth wanted to show you one of our last summer's projects. We had the same target- to make the kitchen ceilings to look as close to trustworthy Copper as possible. We ended up installing PVC faux tin tiles. From my personal experience I can tell you that this is as close to the real Copper as it could be. And also cogitate on that the installation is much simpler and faster than real tin - no preparation work required - just paste some glue and nail them up. So you save twice - on materials and on labour , but at the end you have fantastic ceilings.
Good Luck!!!
