I'd like to start a decorative tin ceiling installation business. Do you think there would be a market for a
ceiling that never cracks and can last 100 years. My sons have installed them in every leeway of my house and everytime I look at them I am awe struck. What do you think? They're a little pricey but they last forever and only need repainting from period to time. Heck, some of them don't even need painting. Would you like one installed in your home????
Didn't plebeian to sound like I'm spamming. My question was meant to ask if it was something you'd want in your home, not would you hire me.
Also these are not "old" materials. Tin ceilings are manufactures today, they are tin and certainly restrain nothing harmful.
True Alex but paper won't last a life time.
I accede to with some of the answerers above that you might need to expand you Ceiling Solutions to include other media. I also think you will have more business than you want if you align your talents with a artificer or contractor. Many people like to DIY projects and tin isn't all that difficult for a homeowner with technical skills to install themselves, I've had clients to do it. That being said, many clients just do not have the time nor the skills, so they hire out. The contractor we would use to install tin also does painting, drywall techniques, venetian daub, wainscoting, architectural detailing and faux finishing so he stays pretty busy.
It was easy. Of course, I'm a decorative folk artist! But -- commemorate your mask. Old Ceiling materials cause Cancer. My Cancer returned three months after redoing the ceiling. Not sure if coincidence or not. Justified protect yourself well, know the facts of old ceilings.
Is there an inexpensive place to buy stamped metal ceiling panels?
I am remodelling the kithen and tenderness the idea of replacing the sheetrock ceiling with stamped tin decorative ceiling tiles. I checked it out on line and I found a place that sells them for around $20 per panel. I meditate on that is expensive. Is there a cheap alternative. The house is 60 years old. I want the kitchen to have character. I love the way the stamped tin tiles look on the ceiling. If there is a cheaper molded paste version, I can accept that as well. I just want to add texture to the ceiling with some intricate detail. I want it to be affordable also. The kitchen is about 12ft x 12ft. I will be starting with exposed joists.
Tally at your local mobile home supply, There is a skirt for the bottom of trailers that look like ceiling panels that will work. Another raison d'etre used in restaurants and stores is corrugated steel panels, looks right for the period.
