Tuscan villa beckons, at Buffalo Home & Garden Show Buffalo News

When visiting the major feature at this year's Buffalo Home & Garden Show — enticingly dubbed the "Villa in Tuscany" — don't leave behind to look down.

You'll see cork flooring in the custom closet and adjoining wine room. Pebble flooring in the bathroom. Oak in the cookhouse, living and dining areas. Carpeting in the bedroom. And, in the outdoor space at the home's entrance, a combination of clay comrade pavers and travertine.

Talk about style underfoot.

The show, which opens today and runs this weekend and next at the Buffalo Niagara Practice Center, is the place to escape the winter doldrums and plan — or dream about — all the things you pauperism to do in your house and garden.

THE Lodge

At least one room in your house probably has a fireplace with a mantle. Depending on your ceiling height and the height of your mantle, you have a delineated expanse in which to accessorize and it's often long and narrow.

In general, we like filling the space with more than just one piece of artwork. A brace of vertical images creates and fills a horizontal rectangular space, but is more interesting than a single painting. Of execution, you can always build out a single image with sconces, electrified or not, or brackets, or something else three-dimensional.

We're not big on clutter. Less is definitely more. We don't like to employment small family photos on mantles. Nor do we like a lot of knick-knacks. One or two bolder items will do the trick. Today we'd like to indistinct on two specific mantles, both of which were long and narrow.

GUEST ROOM

This room, in a coastal home, was designed as a lodger room, but would still be used when the son, now in grad school, came home for visits. Wanting to keep it fairly masculine and reflecting the relatives's interest in the water, we focused on fish, shells and boating. A series of four antique fish engravings were hung in a staggered mode -- the two in the center slightly higher than the two on the outside.

How to make tin looking ceiling tile?

I have the aluminum (flashing)sheets and a trivet with the draft which I would like - now - how do I create the same look with these materials as a tin ceiling? I have attempted a hammer - does not work well - any suggestions?

You could body the shape out of wood, and then lay the metal over the shape, and hammer away.

I'm looking for a ceiling tile that is made out of recycled paper, looks like antique tin & is tongue/groove.?

I've tried searching but i'm not having much success rate. These tiles are replicates of the old tin ceiling tiles but they are much lighter, easier to install with tongue and groove and they are made out of recycled materials. Anyone understand what brand they are or where I can find them?

Here's a location with a few hundred different tile for your ceiling. They might have some like you're looking for. Good luck!

I am remodeling a very old line, it has and had some tin ceiling tiles in it, I would like to keep the look, the new tin tiles don't go well with old and the new tin tiles are too expensive to replace the whole ceiling.

I have seen go broke paper that you can apply to the ceiling at Home Depot , if you like can leave it white or paint it using either a copper or tin affect paint .

I'm looking to obtain my family room with Copper look ceiling tiles (who can afford real copper anyways?!). Any ideas what other press can we try ?

Hi there,
Solely wanted to show you one of our last summer's projects. We had the same target- to make the kitchen ceilings to look as close to real Copper as credible. We ended up installing PVC faux tin tiles. From my personal experience I can tell you that this is as close to the real Copper as it could be. And also take to be that the installation is much simpler and faster than real tin - no preparation work required - just paste some glue and melt them up. So you save twice - on materials and on labour , but at the end you have fantastic ceilings.
