The makers of baseball cards jacked up production, sometimes from a few hundred to millions. Fans collected, hoping that their cards would stand up in value. Baseball card shops opened around the country.
The hobby is not what it used to be.
With the market flooded with cards, most of the card shops folded. Many collectors scholastic that cards were worth only a fraction of what they paid for them. Dealers found new competition on the Internet.
