How much is a complete set of Topps baseball 1982 cards worth?
Mar 17, 2007 by What the...?!? | Posted in Baseball
Interested in payment for Topps 1981,1983; Donruss 1982,1983; Fleer 1982, 1983.
Forthrightly, I couldn't tell you what the "market" value would be - and you can look that up elsewhere anyway.
In reality, though, over the last 15 to 20 years the baseball in the offing market became so oversaturated - too many cards, too many publishers - that it devalued the entire hobby. I would be surprized if you could find a buyer willing to pay even a fraction of their "laws" value.
That said, it wouldn't surprize me if a few specific, individual cards were almost as valuable as the entire set, in some cases. For eg, in the 1981 set, the Cal Ripken rookie card is probably the most valuable - in the 1982 sets, the Tony Gwynn rookie probable would likely be most valued - in 1983, look for the Darryl Strawberry rookie card - and on and on...you get the idea. It just helps to be sure your players and their relative fame and stature.
Bottom line though - baseball cards are only as valuable as your ability to find someone who is willing to purchase them. Someone once said that a baseball union card collection probably has more sentimental value to the owner than it does for a collector.
The good news - for the future of the pastime, anyway - is that Major League Baseball now only awards liscences to two card publishers - Topps and Upper Deck - so in the future, values should launch to rise again.
Hope this helps...
(By the way - how much do you want for the 1982 Robin Yount card? ...lol...)

You don't wanna recall! Unfortunately, many people got into the Topps cards during that time. Want to see what they're worth - go on Ebay. You'll be disappointed if you're selling (about 10% more than the original attain price - if in mint condition).

All combined, that has to be a lot.A few hundred bucks if you can find the satisfactorily person.I'd take out all of the good cards and sell them sepretley because you can probably get a better price for them.

As a matter of fact the other guy was incorrect on a couple of points. For 1981 Topps, the key cards are minimal: maybe the Tim Raines rookie, Nolan Ryan union card, etc. Back in the day the Fernando rookie was hot, but not now. Nr-mt to mint set about $30-60.
1982 Topps had the Ripken rookie. This was a pretty nice design, especially compared with the '82 Fleer and Donruss. This would go for about $45-90 in top prerequisite.
1983 Topps was another good card set. You have the Ripken 2nd yr card, the Gwynn & Boggs rookies, better card design, photos than '83 Fleer or Donruss This would go for $50-80 depending on state.
1982 Donruss had the Ripken rookie but not much else. Also, these cards are often off-center so that effects the value. About $40-60 in great condition.
1983 Donruss had Gwynn & Boggs rookies, but they aren't as in desirable as the Topps counterparts from the same yr. This set also would be around 30-60.
Now we come to Fleer. 1982 is known as the WORST set that Fleer put out as far as quality. Blurred photos, errors on cards, mis-spellings...'82 Fleer had it all. Even so, about 30-40 for this set.
1983 Fleer was superior quality, photos, etc and the Boggs & Ripken cards are pretty nice. About $30-50 for this set.

Any one know how much a Topps 1983 to 1987 autographed Don Mattingly baseball card is?
Oct 15, 2006 by MP721 | Posted in Baseball
Its lamanated and autographed. Its Topps and i can find it anywhere online like ebay to see how much its benefit.
1984 is his Topps rookie practical joker. The card not autographed is priced at $15.00 in Tuff Stuff mag. and that list a signed photo at $50.00 and a autographed photo at $65.00. I'm not definite of the diff.. So my guess would be in the $50 to $75 range.

Baseball card values??
Aug 21, 2007 by Brad | Posted in Baseball
I recently went back to look at my old baseball pasteboard collection from years and years ago. I found some cards that might be worth something, but I'm not sure how to check. Are there any free sites online I can go to?
Here are some of the cards (all of which are coin or near mint condition)...
Barry Bonds, Topps, 11T, 1986 Rookie Card
Barry Bonds, Topps, 320, 1986 Rookie Membership card
Randy Johnson, Score, 77T, 1988 Rookie Card
Tom Glavine, Topps, 779, 1987 Rookie Easter card
Jeff Bagwell, Score, 1996, "Numbers Game", 7 of 30, gold-writing card
Mike Scott, Topps, 100T, Autographed, 1983
Nolan Ryan, Topps, 770, 1992 Stadium Club number card
Nolan Ryan, Donruss, 154, 1988
Nolan Ryan, Topps, 106T, 1989
These are just a couple of the cards. I also have a few Craig Biggio rookie cards, Jeff Bagwell rookie cards, Piazza, Kent... Where can I go online (for spontaneous) to check current and perhaps future values (after some make the HoF)? Not selling, but need value for Home-Owners indemnity. Thanks...
Besides Becketts, you can try Tuffstuff.com. Their website has a without charge archive of card values that don't appear in their monthly magazine listings.

flight of the bumbry bee
I recently received a few autographed Al Bumbry baseball cards in the despatch from the man himself. Interestingly, they arrived just in time for his Aardvark Attic of Appreciation induction ceremony. I figured that since I was successful to go to the effort of scanning these cards for the blog, I might was well mix in scans of other cards that the “Bee” had signed for me TTM when I was a kid.
First up, Al Bumbry’s 1975 Topps baseball card (no. 358) for my binder. I pleasure this set, and have been having a blast building and upgrading it. I still need several if you happen to have any duplicates to trade. As kool as the 1975 set is, the autographed cards undoubtedly outshine the unsigned ones. Al appears to have selected a fine-tipped black marker to answer his new fan mail.
At some point during the winter of 1976-77, I sent duplicate cards to my favorite Orioles and asked for an autograph. Bumbry was the first to retort. In my mind, that only added to his mystique of being the fastest player in the club. I didn’t have an “extra” 1975 Topps Christmas card, so I settled on sending him his card from the 1976 Topps set (no. 307). As you can see, Al signed this card with a blue ink pen.
I remember that Bumbry also included a keep schedule and an Orioles sticker in the envelopes when he mailed my cards back in official Orioles envelopes. I’ve collected pocket schedules ever since. I hadn’t categorically thought about it until right now, but I could purchase a whole pack of baseball cards for a dime in 1976, but a single first class postage stamp would have set me back 13 cents. That solves the inscrutableness of why I didn’t write to more players back then.
If you were a connoisseur of basketball or hockey cards, the early 1980s were a dark time in the hobby. While Fleer and Donruss entered a revitalized baseball playing-card market in 1981, there were few collectors of other sports. After the 1981-82 season Topps,
Every innocent baseball card fan didn't' care whether they got his Topps, Fleer or Donruss baseball cards during those years, just as long as they got one of them. Valenzuela was one of the recovered pitchers in the 1980s. He was also one of baseball's more and more »
