Stoneham employee arrested after theft of $7K Mickey Mantle card Stoneham Sun

Last Thursday, Hike 18, a Wellesley woman reported that a male employee from a Stoneham company stole a framed Mickey Mantle postcard, valued between $7,000 and $12,000. The card was allegedly stolen from the residence while the hired man was cleaning up damage from flooding. The chick said that while at the house, the man had asked her if the card was for sale and she told him it wasn’t. Later she noticed the greetings card was gone and contacted police.

Stoneham Police officers Stephen Carroll and William Reinold responded to the Maple Lane business to investigate the theft of the 1956 Mickey Mantle baseball card. Upon their arrival, the officers met with the business manager, who said a guy had discovered the theft of the baseball card shortly after two of his employees had left the residence.

Before calling the police, the business director confronted one employee, identified as William Lutz, age 50, of Weymouth, who denied taking the baseball card. While speaking with the overseer, Lutz failed to notice that a credit card, belonging to another customer, had fallen from his pant pocket.

Card companies get creative ESPN

In the life few years, Topps has inserted a few surprises in its baseball card sets just to see whether collectors would notice -- and to get a few non-collectors to take attend to, too, and pick up a pack or two.

In 2007, it was a Derek Jeter card with Mickey Mantle digitally placed in the dugout and George W. Bush in the stands. In 2008, it was Yankees fan Rudy Giuliani celebrating in the Red Sox's Domain Series dogpile, a no-hitter highlight card for Johan Santana (a no-no that never happened) and more. Last year, it was a card of President Barack Obama throwing out a ritual first pitch and a smattering of rare cards of legends like Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb.

When the New York City-based entourage released its 2010 baseball card set in January, collectors started finding cards with pictures of New York Yankees who had been pied in the countenance (a tradition the team started last year after walk-off home runs) and last month Topps teased the details that a short-printed variation card existed in the set featuring Abraham Lincoln.

I have two Mickey Mantle baseball cards. How much are they worth?

200 for each one!!!
I had 5 and that is separate much I got them for but I still have more Mickey Mantle cards!!

How much is a Mickey Mantle baseball card worth , do you think???

We went to a frugality store and bought 2 bags of cards and in the bag we found a Mickey Mantle card good as new. It is a Tops, it gives his whole history.

Depends on the year. Put the last year listed in his stats and the be unsecretive number from the back corner of the card and you will get a better answer. It is probably a pretty late year in his career and I'm guessing your belief of a card being in great shape is not the same as someone who is buying the card. I would guess it would be between 5.00 and 20.00 if you went to buy it but you would only get 2.00 or 3.00 selling it at a postcard shop.

How much is this Mickey Mantle baseball card?

It is a Topps baseball visiting-card from 1996 the card number is 564....the heading says "the sporting news" and its a mostly dispirited card. In the back of the very bottom it says "mickey mantle commemorative set card #27..can you help me find how much this is and the source. thakn you.

Commonly commemorative cards don't have a great deal of value. If you had an original issue Mantle card, you'd have something fairly valuable. Now if you had a Mantle rookie Christmas card in mint condition, it would be worth between $37,500 to $45,000 depending on the collector you would be dealing with.

anyone know if MICKEY MANTLE baseball cards are worth anything ?

I have 3 of them one is a 58 all leading man selection. all of them are from his 1949-1968 career. I dont have any idea of the value of any they may have. if you know please answer.
this is not a bogus question,im not a sports fan at all. my nephew who is,gave them to me. i dont have any information about them.although they are in excellent condition and sealed in plastic display case.

OK here is the info you are looking for.
First off there were No Mantle cards in 1949 or 1950.

The earliest is a 1951 Bowman.

There are three types of cards that they could be.

1) Natural cards in nice shape vary. The 1952 Mantle is worth around $20,000 in nice shape. A 1958 All Star index card in nice shape is worth about $350 and if you had his last card in 1968 it is worth around $200. All depend a lot on condition and I unaccommodating really, really nice condition. A slighlty frayed corner can cut prices in half or more.

2) The cards are reprints. Companies have made copies for years of miscellaneous cards. Some are licensed copies some are out right fakes. Both have the same value, basically zero.

3) Are re-released cards. They are similar to the licensed reprints, but were made by the authentic manufacturers (Topps). They can gain as much as $10-25 a card in perfect condition.

If you need more help, send me an email and be disposed to supply a picture of the front and back of the card.
