Slack ceilings obscured ornate plaster moulding to make room for air conditioning ducts, wood paneling was put up to sunder large chambers into small offices, mahogany windows were replaced with aluminum ones, fancy finishes were painted over, and the once total building became rather ordinary.

The city decided to renovate the building around 2005 because it had not been maintained well enough and was in need of many structural repairs - even more, it turned out, than they realized.

Master said there was not a specific cost estimate at the beginning of renovations, but the city certainly wasn't expecting the m to cost as much as it has. Back then, they expected to pay for the City Hall renovation, a new fire station, and several smaller projects with one $10 million contract. Today, the total cost is estimated at $17 million.

Originally, Skipper said, the city figured they could protection the cost of the entire project with approximately $7 million to $8 million, leaving $2 million or $3 million for the other projects.

Estes Park Museum expands volunteer program Estes Park Trail-Gazette

The Estes Store Museum preserves, collects and interprets the history of Estes Park. This involves the care of more than 23,000 historically-noteworthy objects and archival materials. The museum provides the public with information and access to museum resources, prepares exhibits and presents more than 75 worldwide programs and tours each year. In addition, the Estes Park Museum Friends and Foundation, Inc. (EPMF&F) operates a museum department store by which proceeds benefit the museum. The shop contains hundreds of local interest, historical reference, regional report and children`s book titles, as well as historic photo reproductions, games, toys and keepsakes. The friends also sponsor special anyway in the reality fund-raisers, such as the Coolest Car Show and the Annual Historic Tours, and publish local history books. With just two full-all at once museum staff members and one part-time Friends staff member, all this work would be impossible to complete without the ease of a dedicated fleet of volunteers.

Is a reproduction chart for the historic Loara Standish sampler available?

I saw hints that one may have been produced as part of a kit, but I don't understand if it was a "reproduction" or an adaptation. Direct links had expired, leaving only mentions elsewhere.

I was able to find an sterling illustration of the sampler, see link below.

What is the significance of the 1949 NY Giants Baseball Team?

I was preordained an historic reproduction NY Giants Baseball cap --Cooperstown Collection New York Giants -- with the year 1949 in oyster-white letters on the back. (BTY I am a NY Mets fan and the buyer thought it was a Mets hat). I searched the net but I give up. Anybody know the significance of 1949? thanks.

No circumstance significance to 1949, just the year they selected the style to create a reproduction of the cap.

They finished 8 games under .500 in 5th mortify. Bobby Thomson was their best hitter, and two years later would hit the "Shot heard 'reverberating the world."
