Fabergé egg replicashown in Reverential City
Los Gatos glass blower Tom Stanton and San Jose dentist Kevin Calvert have teamed up for an unprecedented project to promote the annual Easter egg sale at Holy City Art Glass.
The two collaborated on a glass printing of a Fabergé egg that Stanton saw at a recent art-nouveau exhibit at San Francisco's Legion of Honor.
The egg is on display through April 4 at Pious City Art Glass, 21200 Old Santa Cruz Highway in Holy City. It will be auctioned off at the event and the proceeds will be split between charities benefitting victims of the up to date Haitian and Chilean earthquakes.

Hakone announces photo exhibit
One of the oldest Asian estate gardens in the West, Hakone Order and Gardens in Saratoga, will host the Northern California showing of Japanese photographer Ishimoto Yasuhiro's works.

Coal was used in fireplaces and stoves to provide heat. Some coal carriers were mere metal pails; others looked like pieces of furniture. They were made with some sort of tipped lip that made it easy to pour out the lumps of coal. It also was adapted to to carry ashes away from the fireplace.
Today the attractive furniturelike coal hods are used as petite tables or magazine racks. An Art Nouveau coal hod with inlay sold at a recent Leslie Hindman auction in Chicago for $310.
