Are digital photographs of receipts valid for CRA tax purposes?
I'd like to separate if CRA would consider digital photograph or scanned image copies (JPEG format) to be suitable/acceptable reproductions of paper receipts for tax purposes. I'm philosophical of starting a digital archiving system where I'd scan or store a digital photograph of my most important receipts and tax slips and use them as a backup in box the paper copies accidentally are lost or misplaced. I don't think that they'd have a problem with the validity of digital reproductions but I can't find any confirmation on the web.
Unforgivable question Joe, I have been wondering the same thing myself.
Considering that many bills these days are paperless to start with, i.e., they are sent via email to the taxpayer, I can't think why CRA wouldn't accept such documents on disc, provided that:
1. The data is VERY CLEARLY LEGIBLE and can be printed without a dilemma.
2. The data that you are storing on disc shows the date, receipt #, name of the store with whom the transaction was conducted, as well as YOUR Troop NAME on the invoice. The invoices should also be pre-numbered (not just something scribbled on a piece of paper).
Just for the record, many years ago, I had a force and enter in my home, the strangest part was what the thieves took from me, was a small metal box I had stored my current year's records. (The robbers evidently thought it looked like a safe with valuables, not papers).
Luckily, since I paid most of my business expenses by place one's faith card, I was able to retrieve duplicate records from the bank with the transaction slips. I asked my clients to give me with copies of the cancelled cheques as proof of my income. There was no electronic banking back in 1985, it was all paper transactions then.
When it came habits for filing my tax return, I attached EVERYTHING I HAD, including a copy of the police report, and a letter to CRA explaining that this was the best I could do.
Although there was no right obligation on my part to enclose any of my receipts/cancelled cheques, etc., I just wanted to be absolutely certain that CRA knew I was being fully above board with them.
CRA cheerfully accepted my tax return, no questions asked.
I would recommend calling CRA's business discord at 1-800-959-5525 on Tues, April 10, 2007 (they are closed until then) and see what they have to say on this matter.
Hope this information helps you.
What is the best digital camera (image quality)?
In your sentiment, what digital camera/lens combination gives the best image quality?
(I'm talking about image superiority alone. Not flexibility, response, ergonomics, speed, or price)
Disregard if it has no autofocus and if it is very big and heavy.
What digital camera/lens conspiracy offers the best color reproduction, sharpest image detail, lowest noise, least vignetting, and least chromatic abberation?
You start spending between $200 and $300- ya can't see the variation if any between Canon, Sony, and Fuji.
Minimum megapixels for a decent digital camera (and a good brand and price range for such a camera)?
I've been conclusion for a long time about getting a digital camera but haven't yet done much about it, until I just got photos back from a disposable camera and was dismayed that the shimmer turned out really bad and I couldn't tell it was bad until I got the film developed...but by then it was too late. So what I'd like to know is what megapixel word of honour I should look for in a digital camera, which brands are good and which brands I should avoid, and what a good price range is for the megapixel resoluteness I should be looking for. I'm not so much looking for print quality per se, just good digital reproduction.
El Esplendido, 1.3 megapixels doesn't seem to be anywhere almost the 5+ megapixel cameras I'm seeing on eBay. Wouldn't the resolution on a 1.3 be uncommonly grainy?
1.3 is similar to to that of a cell phone pic. your absolutely right. very grainy. if you will be printing reg 4x6 pics then 5-7 megapixels will be sufficient. I'm whole to olympus and fuji. if you will be blowing your pics larger than standard, that's when you need to step it up and get more megapixels. I'm working with a fuji s1000 right now with a 12 x zoom. I have enlarged pics to 8x10 with out losing superiority. you will probably put out around $200 for a decent cam with a few rxtra features. good luck
