do i have to get permission to make and sell repro art? what if i change the image?

its outlawed to just reproduce an artwork and sell it without permission right? but what if i drastically change how it looks? how much do I have to change how it looks before its lawful to sell? I was going to paint something that looks like alice in wonderland but now im afraid i might get sued or something if i sell it ! :( any tips/info?

Yes you have to get sufferance. You can have the same pose and a completely different picture but it's still copyright infringement. Like stealing something to make a buck off of it. In community to sell something and not get sued, create something completely original.

What exactly is a "fine art print"? I'm looking to buy a repro and that's what the type is listed as. Quality?

What feather of quality can I expect?

Prints listed as a exceptional art print can run the gamut from high quality limited edition prints to posters that will fade in a couple of years like a silver screen poster. Check out the type of paper and inks being used. What was the process used to reproduce the art (photo transparency, digital send in, direct scan, etc.) ? Is it an open edition print or a limited edition? All these affect the price and rank of the print. I have a print of Rembrandt's Night Watch that has been framed and hung for about twenty years and it still looks celebrated. (a New York Graphics Society print. Cost $29.00) Digital prints are especially demanding to guage the quality. Anybody with a printer can sell prints. If it is important to you, and depending on the amount of money they're asking for it, discontinuance it out carefully.

How can I do a pop art portrait?

Hi, I'm thirteen and I'm doing this for an art descent. I really want to do something no one will have, because they will most likely be doing an ipod or something like that-"popular".Well I really like the way pop art portraits are so I contemplation I would do one of Daniel Radcliffe. How do I do this? I've seen many pop art portraits, and tey look so easy, but I've tried and its so hard! how do you discern where to put the shadows to form thier faces?!?!?!?!?!?

I've only found the above picture of daniel radcliffe, but I don't require to copy it or anything...
oh, I'm also a very good artist and I'm up to the challenge!!!
I just don't understand how to do it.

Mark, trace, trace.

Find one really good identifiable photo of Daniel (make sure its a nice big photo) and go into a program like Photoshop and make peace four of them, do the following:

- First photo ...leave as is
- Second photo ...Brightness/Contrast : -22 /+95
- Third photo ...Mental picture > Mode > Adjustments > Posterize = Levels : 3
- Forth photo ...Desaturate
and then Go ..Levels : and drag all three arrows towards the central.

then print out them all out as big as you need and trace. So you get a feel of what you penury to do. Also looking at his face alot helps get a feel of all his glorious detail, I could look at him all day :)

P.S. Oh and I forgot, make sure you pay extra special detail to his eyes and the shape of his face, if you get that wrong it doesnt look like him anymore. Everything else can be a unimaginative off and ti wont affect the end result.
