How can I have a copy of my oil painting made by a print maker before I sell it? For my records. Paper is ok.?
I painted for commission but hunger a copy of the oil painting before I sell it for my own records and collection. It doesn't have to be artist quality, just well done, on heavy paper or canvas is ok. It is a 16" x 20" take the measure of.
Can you take a fancy of it? I know taking pictures of artwork is hard but if you do it right you'll be able to send it to a print maker online.
If pictures is out, fact-finding getting it scanned locally on a large format scanner.
If pictures is out, inquire into getting it scanned locally on a large format scanner.
One more thing. If you are going to be successful with prints, then you will need a few lessons in marketing.
How can I have copy of my oil canvas painting printed out before I sell it ?
Take a very wares picture of it with a film or digital camera. If you don't know how to do a professional set up, contact a photographer to do it for you. Most photographers be acquainted with how to "shoot copy" of flat art. It is worth the expense to get an excellent photo of art work that you'll not have access to again.
If you can't grant to hire a photographer, you might want to try and contact a student photographer, or barter for services.
If you have a good picture of your art, you can imitate it from that picture. You can make prints or post it to a web site. But the picture has to be clear, well lit, no glare and focused enough to catch for detail detail and color.
Can you sell a painting that copies a copyrighted photograph?
If you paint an oil painting copying as settle as you can to what a copyrighted photograph looks like, can you be sued if you display or sell it?
If your painting was an of course accurate copy of the photograph then there might be some case made for breach of copyright, but I've never heard of any artist being prosecuted for this.
Artists have oftentimes used photographs as the basis of their work. Warhol and Rauschenberg would both take material from published magazines and I don't entertain the idea either of them paid or even gave credit for the source.
The only painter I can think of who was ever taken to court for copyright breach was Boggs (I characterize as that was his name), but he was painting banknotes and was accused of forgery also.
Check with a legal person but I think copyright law regarding images only refers to cold reproduction.
how to get oil painting copied. lithograph?
assuming this is your own painting and youare uninhibited to copy it as you like, then you can take it to a reprograpics company and they will make it into a print. For lithographs, if you want to make several in an edition, you will go to a printer who does this. don't identify where you live, so cannot recomend anyone. Look at an art book or litho you may have purchased and see if a printer name is listed in front of book and if it is in your area. call them and ask.
